You know what bugs me...

So I am watching The Golden Compass on HBO, and you know what bugs me? Not the supposed religious allegory, but how open ended the movie was at the end. It bugs me to no end when movies are started not to tell a good story, but are crafted with a franchise in mind.

I can appreciate wanting to build that money train, and having faith in your product to tease the next installment. But when you leave it open ended in the first chapter it's just so unfufilling as a movie. And in the case of the Golden Compass, it did such shit at the box office, clearly no sequel is coming... it just bugs me.

Oh well, I guess I have to go get the books. But Plummer's books will have to wait their turn as I am loving The Walking Dead. Yes it's a comic. But the trades that I've been picking have been by far the most sophisticated, well written books I've read in a while. And the art is so cinematic... loving it. Causing me to be spending too much cash on these installments, and keeping me up way too late. Been a little tired at work as a result.
