Houses.

So Memorial Day weekend. It definitely had it's high and low points. We won't go into the low points... cause that would just be depressing. But let's go into some fun points shall we?

A buddy of mine from work was throwing a BBQ, not only do I work with this fine gentleman, but I volunteer with him at the Children's Mercy Hospital, of which his wife oversees the Volunteer Programs. Both really sweet and awesome people. Anyways, they invited family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, everybody over. It really was like the block parties I went to growing up, and was a lot of fun. And I knew the two to be very sweet and open people, watching them open their home the way they did that day... man, it was just proof of how, shit I don't know, how good these guys are.

But on top of all that, can I just say their home was just beautiful. It was by far one of the warmest homes I'd seen in a while. Everything seemed the perfect size, not too big, not too small, perfect. The yard, the kitchen, the bedroom. All of it. And the work and love they put into the home really showed. And honestly was the first time I wished I bought a house versus my loft.

But who knows. When I finally decide to settle, a nice little house will be in my future.

Why do I always bring some home with me...

So my hometown Baltimore Orioles were in town, playing my current town, Kansas City Royals. Oh man it was a good game...

Well, actually, I don't know what makes a good game. But for some reason it was so fun to watch high-tension plays, and see the Emp call in favor of my Orioles. Listening to the crowd go "boo" when it happened too. Just priceless.

But then came the Italian Sausage. Okay, so I get sausage number 2. So nevermind the fact unknown to me the mustard jar was out, so I get a huge air bubble splatting mustard all over my arm... I get back to my seat to get situated. As I sit, my sausage falls out of it's boat, and into my lap...

Suck.

And of course my good buddy Justin...

And his wife, Kari...

(don't let the stink-eye fool you, she's a sweetheart)

Yea, all they did was laugh. No worries though, totally love those kids.

But yea, seriously, I don't know why, but I always bring a little home with me whenever I go to the ballgame. Just not fair, especially when you just did the laundry. Suck.

But yea, it was my hometown Baltimore Orioles against my current town the Kansas City Royals. It was a great game, and the Orioles ended up taking it (which I was secretly rooting for). Oh man, but it was a beautiful night for a ballgame. Just rained, so it was real cool, no bugs. Good company, sweet food, and a beautiful night. It was definitely a nice break from things lately.

Anyways, not much else is going on. Trying to get my life in order, but more on that later...

Change - Part Deux

So I mentioned some changes, well the doctor appointment came and went. That was interesting. Good news, what I thought was a spontaneous mole, well, turns out is a wart. HA, how about them apples. Thank goodness though, at least there's no threat of something super serious. So they referred me to a dermatologist to get the little guy freezed off, which in a really strange way I am totally stoked to go through.

But there were some gray areas, those of you who know me, you've probably experienced my hack-phlegm-vomit/convulsion-heaving spectacular. So had that checked out. They had me do a polmanar... plumarna... they had me do a "breathing" test, and they did a x-ray. So x-rays look fine, but the numbers from the test don't look so good. So they think I might have developed an allergy, and gave me some medicine. But to be on the safe side, they referred me to a specialist. So we'll see how that goes.

A lot of referrals from the General Practice folks.

Anyways I'll see them again on Wednesday for a physical, been super scared about diabetes, more so lately than anything else. Doesn't help good 'ol mom reminds me it runs in the family every time I talk to her. So hopefully everything will work out.

Not to much else is going on. Really excited to finally send out that comic proposal... really freaked out too. Seems like one of those endeavors to try and change your fate... whenever those moments come, big or small, it's a pretty heavy thing. Exciting, but heavy.

Well I hope you all are doing well today. I hope you all are having fun this holiday weekend. Personally I am greatful for the long weekend.

Change.

Such a powerful topic isn't it? "Change"

Well, some big changes happening. One you don't get to hear about... but making some changes that are long over due.

1) Plan for the future. You know, really this one was long overdue. So many opportunities come and gone to start planning for the future. Never took them, so much money pissed away in the past... well, met with a friend of a friend who is a financial advisor, and well, gonna see what we can do.

2) Finally found the window to see that doctor. I have issues, really who doesn't. But really this appointment is long overdue. A lot of things that need checked out. The potential for "restless leg syndrome", "diabetes" (runs in the fam), got this weird phlegm-cough thing that is a hold-over from my smoking days, and a random-out of the blue mole that should be checked out. Have an appointment set for tomorrow, we'll see if I can get all that crapped at least addressed in a visit. Honestly, a little worries about some items, but it'll be good.

3) Finally getting that fucking comic proposal out the door. We'll see how that mother-fucker fares with the distributor. I'll most definitely keep you posted on that one.

But yea, been a rough week to say the least. And saying it was "rough" is most definitely an understatement. Bless my family and friends over the last week who lent a ear and shoulder. You guys rock my face off.

what?

So I just saw a commercial that featured fashion designer Vera Wang. And she was in this commercial sponsoring... Serta.

Now... I am a little confused to the benefit of a fashion designer supervising the production of a mattress. I mean major contribution to the develop of a solid mattress would on the inside, the guts defining the comfort of your sleep. What the fuck does Wang know about that? At least what more does she know then Serta scientists?

I guess she can design the fabric th mattress is wrapped in. But you're going to cover that anyway with sheets.

Sounds like you're paying for a name.

Ah, advertising.

Weddings...

So those of you who don't know, I am an ordained minister. I had done it to marry 2 good friends of mine way back when. But not too long ago a good buddy of mine asked if I would officiate his sister's wedding.

To which I gladly said yes.

Nevermind I had not heard from his sister in some 5 years. But she's family. So of course I told my friend yes.

Fast forward two weeks ago. I was asked to confirm if I was still doing it. I said yes. Though keep in mind, I have received no details of any kind regarding the wedding. Fast forward to a week ago, stop waiting for the bride, and started calling for info.

AND, fast forward to this morning, received the info. Directions, times, vows, the whole bit.

The wedding is tomorrow.

The rehearsal is tonight.

Yea, it's gonna be a little interesting how this all plays out. Seriously, if she wasn't a sister to my buddy I would totally be bowing out of this wedding.

I'll let you know how this goes.

KIM JONG IL LOVE

Oh you know you want one...

Get yours here.

oh, one more thing...

Drivers please, PLEASE, watch where you're driving. Why? Well on the way to work this morning I saw 2 cars drive down the wrong way down 1-way streets. Incredible, traffic signs clear as day, totally bypassed the signs and went about their day.

incredible.

OMG

So it's late, I can't sleep, so I'm clicking through the channels and came across Last Call with Carson Daly. Have you seen this show?

Well, I'm no fan of Carson Daly, what I was more intrigued by was the opening credits. Holy shit were they bad!!! It looked like a really bad Flash animation that you would see in those banner ad games on myspace. I mean, there was no production value at all! Incredible what makes it on television... seriously.

Anyways, if you want to see some badness go Google that shit, maybe someone had too much time on their hands and posted it.

Another day, another rant...

Do you ever wish when you see some crazy driver doing like 70 on city streets, do you ever wish there would be a cop nearby, "YOU'LL GET YOURS!!!!"

I don't know. I can't imagine what can you be in such a hurry for you're driving like crazy, riding people's asses, and cutting people off in a very narrow fashion. It just boggles my mind.

But yea, I always hope there's a cop nearby to tag them. Alas, there never is.

And on a slightly different, but related note, jaywalkers...

Seriously what poscesses a person to walk into on-comign traffic to cross the street, ESPECIALLY when there is a crosswalk less then 3 meters away. 3 METERS!!! I mean, are we seriously THAT lazy?

Bananas, just bananas people.
